Emotional Tides and the Power of Storytelling – with Gilbert & Broman

The Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra explores emotional tides and the power of storytelling under the baton of Alan Gilbert, with concertmaster Malin Broman as soloist. The concert opens with Dalit Warshaw’s *Responses*, written as an answer to three intermezzi by Johannes Brahms, and continues with Béla Bartók’s First Violin Concerto—a personal, lyrical two-movement work that encompasses both dreams and dance. After the interval comes Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s *Scheherazade*: a vivid orchestral suite in which the solo violin becomes the storyteller in a world of adventure, sea breezes and Oriental tales.
