The Addams Family

The hit musical The Addams Family arrives at Kuopion kaupunginteatteri in autumn 2026! Opening night: 5 September 2026. Welcome to the Addams family, where weirdness is admired, black is the new black, and love is heartwarmingly strange! When the family’s daughter, Wednesday Addams, falls in love with a perfectly ordinary young man, Lucas Beineke, the whole Addams family must face its greatest horror: “normal” life. Wednesday invites Lucas and his parents to dinner to meet her family. To stop the meeting from going straight to the grave, the Addamses must do something unheard of: try to act like a normal family. Will these two families find themselves heading for a dream fairytale wedding or a complete disaster as they get to know one another? The Addams Family musical comedy shows how even the dead serious can be funny, and encourages people to be boldly themselves. The musical combines dark humour, energetic music and spectacular dance numbers in a way that makes audiences both laugh and feel moved. The show is full of cartoon-like, exuberant and, above all, lovable characters. The Addams Family musical had its world premiere on Broadway in 2010. The story is based on the Addams family characters created by Charles Addams, who first appeared in cartoons in The New Yorker in the 1930s. Since then, the family has taken over television, films and stages around the world.
