The Pink Hammer

Four women, a handful of tools and a whole lot of commotion! Four women who have never met arrive for a woodworking course called The Pink Hammer, but the instructor, Amanda, is nowhere to be seen. Instead, Amanda’s husband Tapsa turns up and reluctantly takes charge of the workshop, which the women have already paid for. Tapsa, who thinks empowerment means charging a cordless drill, is in for quite a ride as the women’s energy takes over. As they learn woodworking, the women gradually open up about their lives: their dreams, worries and responsibilities. Michele Amasi’s tragicomedy goes beyond a superficial story that reinforces stereotypes, delving into the lives of women with very different personalities. Even the man knocking back beer in his workshop finds his tear ducts. The Pink Hammer is now being performed in a theatre in Finland for the first time.
