The Pink Hammer

Four women, a handful of tools and a whole lot of commotion! Four women who have never met before arrive for a woodworking course called The Pink Hammer, but the instructor, Amanda, is nowhere to be seen. Instead, Amanda’s husband Tapsa turns up and reluctantly has to lead the workshop the women have already paid for. Tapsa, who thinks empowerment means charging a cordless drill, is thrown into the deep end as female energy takes over. As the women learn woodworking, they gradually open up about their lives: their dreams, worries and obligations. Michele Amasi’s tragicomedy is more than a superficial story that reinforces stereotypes: it delves into the lives of women with very different personalities, and even the man drinking beer in his workshop finds his tear ducts. The Pink Hammer is now being staged in a theatre in Finland for the first time.
