The film unfolds just before Christmas in a small village in Southern Estonia, where an inexperienced but eager veterinary official (Taavi Teplenkov) arrives, hoping to resolve a suspected case of African swine fever as quickly as possible. The official’s oddly interpreted decisions, according to which all domestic animal keeping must be eradicated immediately, set off an increasingly absurd series of events in the village. The film, seasoned with plenty of dark humor, features a stellar lineup of Estonian actors: Taavi Teplenkov, Egon Nuter, Külliki Saldre, Hendrik Toompere Jr., Andres Mähar, Mari Jürjens, Argo Aadli, Christopher Rajaveer, Aleksandr Bražnik, Andres Puustusmaa, Inga Salurand, Mairo Libba, Carita Vaikjärv, Joonas Terik, Haldja Semjonova, and Marie Konsa. The film is directed and written by Ove Musting, produced by Jaan Laugamõts, photographed by Sten-Johan Lill, designed by Anneli Arusaar, edited by Moonika Raidam, composed by Mihkel Zilmer, and sound-designed by Markus Andreas. The film is produced by Downtown Pictures, with production support from the Estonian Film Institute, the Cultural Endowment of Estonia, and the Tartu Film Fund.
