Newly written and personal, about a child who learns that her voice is dangerous. What happens to a child who learns that her voice is dangerous? She grows up in a world with adults who are supposed to protect her but instead become a threat. When she defends herself and her brother, she finds her voice—but the price of using it is high. As an adult, she returns to the child she once was and still carries within her. Through the body, voice and newly written music, a testimony emerges about violence, survival and the longing to be recognised as a human being.
“Den livsfarliga” is a newly written solo performance by and featuring Fia Adler Sandblad. A raw and personal work of performing arts about what a childhood shaped by violence and a lack of human warmth can do to a person. But also about the power of being seen. The production is the latest part of Fia Adler Sandblad’s years-long theatrical exploration of abandonment and the ways people survive.
The performance is inspired by Dario Fo’s absurd mystery play “Gycklarens födelse”. The title “Den livsfarliga” alludes to the jester, who puts both herself and others in danger by daring to say what others try to conceal. For the most dangerous thing you can do is tell the truth…
