Art exhibition at Garage Pizza & Vin

During November, Åsa Holm Jalnefur will show her artworks at Garage Pizza & Vin in collaboration with Galleri DoDo. Åsa’s art can be described briefly as colourful, simple and pared back—and the artist can be described the same way. She is fascinated by the lines and contours of her surroundings, which she simplifies into almost abstract motifs with strong colours and few shades. Being present in a place and experiencing its atmosphere are important parts of her creative process.

About the artist

Åsa Holm Jalnefur’s art is characterised by strong colours, simple shapes and pared-back motifs. She is fascinated by the lines and contours of her surroundings, which she simplifies into almost abstract images. Experiencing places up close and capturing their atmosphere and feeling are important parts of her creative process.

Åsa regularly draws from the figure and enjoys sketching while travelling. Since 2017, she has also created textile images by combining textile printing and embroidery. Colour fields are printed using paper stencils, and the contours are embroidered by hand, often on old linen tablecloths given a new lease of life. It is a process in which quick expression meets slow craftsmanship. She is also passionate about linocut printing and about exploring how colours and shapes interact and change the expression of an image.

The opening takes place on Friday, 6 November at 18:30. It begins at Galleri DoDo, after which you will take a seat at Garage Pizza & Vin. Register by emailing galleri.dodo@gmail.com.

About Garage Pizza & Vin

In the charming Göstas courtyard, just west of Stora Torget in Hjo, you’ll find the restaurant Garage. It serves Swedish artisan pizza made with heritage grains, good wines and beers from microbreweries.

Göstas courtyard and DoDo Galleri are along Falköpingsvägen. Parking is available in the courtyard. Garage Pizza and Vin is also located here.
