Art exhibition at Garage Pizza & Vin

During November, Åsa Holm Jalnefur will show her artwork at Garage Pizza & Vin in collaboration with Galleri DoDo. Åsa’s art can be described briefly as colourful, simple and stripped-back; the artist herself can be described in the same way. She is fascinated by the lines and contours of her surroundings, which she simplifies into almost abstract subjects with strong colours and few shades. Being present in a place and experiencing its atmosphere are important parts of her creative process.

About the artist

Åsa Holm Jalnefur’s art is characterised by strong colours, simple forms and pared-back subjects. She is fascinated by the lines and contours of her surroundings, which she simplifies into almost abstract images. Experiencing places up close and capturing their atmosphere and feeling are important parts of her creative process.

Åsa regularly draws from life and enjoys sketching on her travels. Since 2017, she has also created textile pictures using a combination of textile printing and embroidery. Blocks of colour are printed using paper stencils, and outlines are embroidered by hand, often on old linen tablecloths that are given a new lease on life. It is a process in which quick expression meets slow craftsmanship. She is also fond of linocut printing, as well as exploring how colours and shapes interact and change the expression of an image.

The opening takes place on Friday, 6 November at 18:30. It begins at Galleri DoDo, after which you will sit down for a meal at Garage Pizza & Vin. Please register at galleri.dodo@gmail.com.

About Garage Pizza & Vin

In the charming courtyard of Göstas, just west of Stora Torget in Hjo, you’ll find the Garage restaurant. It serves Swedish artisanal pizza made with heritage grains, good wines and beer from microbreweries.

Göstas courtyard and DoDo Galleri are along Falköpingsvägen. Parking is available in the courtyard. Garage Pizza and Vin is also located here.
