About Hjo Water Curing Establishment

Hjo Water Curing Establishment was inaugurated in 1878. A large bathing park was laid out, and in the following years several villas with guest rooms were built for visitors to the spa. Among other things, guests were prescribed natural and artificial medicinal waters, mud baths, tar baths and electrotherapy. But a visit to the establishment was not all about abstinence. Guests went on excursions or relaxed in the Society Lounge. If they were not strolling through the bathing park, they might play lawn tennis with a few willing opponents. At the Bellevue bathhouse restaurant, they enjoyed good three-course dinners and the view.
