Christmas in Town: First Advent Sunday

Welcome to window-shopping Sunday and the first Sunday of Advent in town! On Sunday, November 29, we’ll light the first candle and kick off the Christmas season. Shops will be open 12:00–16:00 with Christmas gift offers and their Christmas window displays. Take a walk around and vote for this year’s best shop window! At Stora Torget, you can browse the Malta Johanna Christmas Market, where UF companies will also be selling their products. There will be free pony rides, and Santa will be there to collect wish lists. Do you have old glasses at home? Bring them along! Lions is collecting used glasses to pass on to people who need them. At 13:30, Lions Ålla will award scholarships, and at 14:00 it’s time for Lions’ Christmas Gift Mountain at Stora Torget. We’ll end the day at 15:00 with Ljusets dag in Gamla stan.

12:00–16:00: Malta Johanna Christmas Market + UF in the old Saluhallen and at Stora Torget
12:00–16:00: Lions’ Christmas prize fishing pond for children
12:00–16:00: Lions collects your used glasses to give to people in need in the Third World
12:00–16:00: Pony rides
12:00–16:00: Christmas crafts at Kulturstället – candle dipping and gift wrapping
12:00–16:00: Ahead of Smoke Alarm Day – the Rescue Service will be there (unless they get called out...)
11:00: Town walk and mulled-wine get-together, starting at Köttorget, 180 kr
13:30: Scholarship awards – Lions Ålla
14:00: Lions’ Christmas Gift Mountain – Stora Torget

Gingerbread House Competition! Bilkällan is holding its annual competition for all gingerbread-house builders. This year’s theme is “We come, we come from gingerbread land”. Submit your entry to Bildkällan by 10/12.

Christmas opening hours in the town centre:
Saturdays in Advent: 10:00–15:00
Sundays in Advent: 12:00–16:00
