Welcome to an exhibition about poor textile craft workers and their world of patterns. In the exhibition *Roses in November*, you’ll meet five craft workers from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Their stories tell of humble living conditions and hardship, but also of skilled craftsmanship and great creativity. Tradition meets the present in newly created wool textiles inspired by the patterns and colours of these historical craftspeople. Welcome in!
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, many people in our country were very poor. One way to make a living was to craft various household items that could be sold for a small income or exchanged for something else they needed. In this exhibition, you’ll get to know five craft workers, their textile creations and their rich, often colourful world of patterns. Gran-Anna crocheted; Lunn-Anders and Blinda-Anna knitted; Maria i Stenbacken sewed patchwork quilts; and, last but not least, Vävar-Lars was known for his linen damask. You’ll also see newly created wool textiles by Lena Josefsson, inspired by the patterns and colours of the poor craft workers.
