Come and meet Floby’s own master at bringing clay to life! Opening reception: 6 November, 18:00. Meet the artist, have some cider and see the newly opened exhibition.
Exhibition: 6–30 November
This exhibition presents works by ceramic artist Louise Eklund. Using clay as her medium, she creates sculptures inspired by animals and nature, with the balance between the organic material and artistic expression at the centre. The exhibition also includes handmade, figurative functional objects, such as plates decorated with bananas, penguins and shells. Each object and sculpture bears traces of the making process, with the hands that shaped the clay leaving marks and texture. Engobes and glazes have been applied in layers to give the works character and life. Through her work, Eklund explores the meeting of form, colour and the unique properties of clay.
Louise Eklund has an arts education, including both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in ceramic art from the School of Design and Crafts (HDK) at the University of Gothenburg.
WHERE: The Great Hall next to Floby Library, the Old Municipal Building.
WHEN: Opening reception Friday 6 November, 18:00–19:00. The exhibition is open during the library’s opening hours (Tuesdays 10:00–13:00 and 15:00–17:00, and Thursdays 15:00–19:00) from Friday 6 November through Monday 30 November.
