They carry the tradition forward! Stahlhammer Klezmer Classic continues the tradition of the Stahlhammer Orchestra, formed around 1910 in southern Poland by Semmy Stahlhammer’s relatives and friends. The original orchestra played traditional Jewish music at various events, including concerts and weddings. Today, the group consists of Anne Kalmering, a leading singer of Jewish song in Sweden with a Russian-Jewish background; Miriam Oldenburg, an experienced accordionist in klezmer and world music; cellist Isabel Blommé, who has worked with several symphony orchestras in Sweden and internationally; and violinist Semmy Stahlhammer, former concertmaster at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm and a teacher at the Royal College of Music.
