Don’t miss the interwar sale! Artist brothers Mügge invite you to a darkly humorous end-of-the-world party, inspired by the decadence of the 1920s and projected onto the escapism of our time. This site-specific installation combines film, sound, objects, text and drawing into a sensory, lavish whole, bringing together contemporary escapism, historical parallels and apocalyptic moods. It forms a surreal time capsule where a glittering surface collides with a creeping sense of collapse. Entertainment and seriousness go hand in hand in a work that uses black humour and playfulness to raise questions about crisis, collective amnesia and the pleasure-seeking powerlessness of our time.
Christoph and Sebastian Mügge, based in Skåne, studied at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf and Umeå Academy of Fine Arts, respectively. They have worked as a duo since 2017, focusing on large-scale installations using a wide range of techniques.
