In her new novel, “Kapitalet,” Therese Bohman portrays class, desire and relationships in the age of influencer culture. Meet her in conversation with cultural journalist Sonja Schwarzenberger.
This autumn, Therese Bohman is publishing the novel “Kapitalet,” about Alice and Emma. Emma works at a preschool in Södermalm where they serve organic food. Alice is a blogger and influencer. When Alice’s daughter Stella starts at the preschool, their paths cross and a complicated relationship develops. “Kapitalet” is a psychological novel about class and parasocial relationships.
Recurring themes in Bohman’s writing include class, love, art, literature, men in the cultural sphere and power relations. She made her debut in 2010 with the novel “Den drunknade,” followed four years later by “Den andra kvinnan,” which was nominated for the Nordic Council Literature Prize. In 2016, she was nominated for the August Prize for “Aftonland.” Since then, she has published “Andromeda,” “Sanningsberget” and “Kammakargatan.”
At the Authors’ Stage, Therese Bohman talks with cultural journalist Sonja Schwarzenberger. In collaboration with Norstedts förlag.
