Zuikis Puikis

Libretto by Sigitas Mickis, based on E. Mieželaitis’s poem: “A hundred little hares gathered, and even the green forest bent. After talking it over, they opened a school.” ZUIKIS PUIKIS is a cheerful and instructive story for the youngest opera-goers. Children aged 3–7 have the opportunity not only to watch the performance but also to take part in it. In the LNOBT Chamber Hall, children sing, play and learn alongside the opera characters in the lessons at the hares’ school. The performance features young soloists—LNOBT opera trainees—as well as actors, dancers and choristers from the theatre’s Children’s Opera Studio. Juozas Mantas Jauniškis, the production’s music director, conducts the instrumental ensemble of the LNOBT Orchestra. Duration: 1 hour. Premiere: 14 March 2015. Production partner: Lithuanian Composers’ Union.
