The band’s hits and Christmas songs will be heard at Tampere Hall on 15 December and Helsinki’s Kulttuuritalo on 16 December, as well as at Kuopio Music Centre on 19 December. Tickets for the concerts are on sale at Lippu.fi.
Rare Christmas songs and hits by Gösta Sundqvist live
The band will perform songs from the legendary 1990 album Varasteleva Joulupukki, written by Gösta Sundqvist, including “Jossain on kai vielä joulu,” “Jouluksi mummolaan,” “Joulukertomus” and “Soiva jouluyllätys,” as well as “Jouluaattona kännissä,” featured on a special edition of the album Rakkauden planeetta. Naturally, the set will also include some of the band’s biggest hits, such as “Teuvo, maanteiden kuningas,” “Kyllikki,” “Pohjois-Karjala,” “Poika nimeltä Päivi,” “Itkisitkö onnesta?” and “Rin Tin Tin,” all performed live with the deep interpretation of singer Timo Rautiainen, who has received acclaim from audiences.
The original lineup on stage
The band consists of original Leevi and the Leavings members: bassist Risto ‘Rife’ Paananen, Juha Karastie, who plays mandolin and guitar, and drummer-guitarist Niklas Nylund. The orchestra is joined by keyboardist Janne Teuronen and backing vocalist Tiia Teuronen. Leavings-Orkesteri delighted audiences at the Suomirockin juhlaa concert at Tampere’s Nokia Arena last December.
