Professor Emerita of Ämminkology Cécile E.E. Orblin will guide you into the world of strange creatures hidden in cities. Do you already know the riikki, kuulio or immi? You have surely noticed signs of them, such as overflowing rubbish bins, clicking sounds from traffic lights or streetlights that have gone dark. Ämminkäinen research is booming both in Finland and internationally. Now Finnish spotters, too, have the opportunity to attend a lecture by a leading researcher in the field. You will also hear brand-new theme pieces for different Ämminkäinen species by Mr A. Auvinen, the official five-star composer of the International Ämminkäinen Research Society (ISAR).

The concert is based on Tuomas Kärkkäinen’s children’s book Suomen ämminkäiset värikuvina (S&S 2021). Recommended for school-age children. Duration approximately 40 minutes, no interval.

Organised by Kuopio City Orchestra.
Tickets: €14.10 adults / €7.60 children under 16 / €42.40 family ticket (includes 4 people).
