Flood

After receiving a very warm response in the spring, Flood returns to Kuopio! Flood is a stirring contemporary dance performance featuring professional dancers and local dance enthusiasts. The work invites us to consider what we gather around and what we let flow past us. Internationally acclaimed choreographer Janina Rajakangas has created a collaboration with Tanssiteatteri Minimi in which a group of professional dancers and enthusiasts pause before the flood of images in the news and on social media. Images of a world marked by uncertainty, and of good and bad news, are traced in the performers’ bodies. The performers practise the poses of the people shown in the images and form a rhythmic choreography: they dance, run and sing as the stream of images passes through their bodies again and again.

“Flood is a performance that I already know will stay with me for years.” — Amman lukuhetki blog
