Children’s Weekend: The Invisible Backpack — Backpack Buddy Workshop

In the workshop, participants will make a delightful backpack buddy. In the books The Invisible Backpack, the main character, Rosali, has a soft toy friend called Possu, who helps put Rosali’s feelings into words as a source of strength and a companion. Everyone can make their own character to be their backpack buddy. The buddy can accompany them as a source of strength and a friend who sees the secret backpack and reminds them that it is there. Participants will consider what important reminder their own backpack buddy could offer.

The workshop explores sensitivity, feeling overwhelmed and recovery, based on the children’s book series The Invisible Backpack.

Workshop leaders: Maria Vilja, picture-book creator (including the The Invisible Backpack series), social services professional and visual arts educator; Reetta Huhta, children’s and young people’s social-emotional skills instructor, drama and visual arts educator.

The workshop is drop-in. Children take part with an accompanying adult. The workshop is free of charge. The event is part of the Espoo Children’s Weekend programme. Read more about Children’s Weekend on the espoo.fi website: espoo.fi/lastenviikonloppu
