Children’s Weekend: Teatteri Tuomikko: Peekaboo, Where’s the Moon?

A baby theatre performance combining peekaboo, lift-the-flap books and the wonders of puppet theatre. Just a moment ago, it was right here, but now it’s nowhere to be seen. Could the moon be playing hide-and-seek? Let’s count to three and look for it! But the moon has found a really good hiding place, and it takes lots of peekaboos and peeks before it comes out of hiding.

Designed for babies and toddlers, the performance brings the familiar lift-the-flap books and the wonders of puppet theatre into a game of peekaboo. With their accompanying adult’s help, participants become part of a game in which peeking is the main attraction.

Participants sit with plenty of space on the floor, with each child beside an adult. The performer may move among the audience, but adults won’t be asked to perform; instead, they can enjoy the show and the interaction with the little ones.

The performance aims to give the youngest members of the family a gentle and safe first theatre experience, shared with their adult. It combines elements familiar to babies with a touch of theatrical magic and offers adults a moment in the world of imagination, too.

Duration: approx. 25 min. Recommended age: children aged 0–2 with an adult. The performance takes place in the Meijeri building. Strollers must be left outside the performance space. The event is part of the Espoo Children’s Weekend programme. Read more about Children’s Weekend on the Espoo website: espoo.fi/lastenviikonloppu
