Film: Father’s Day (K7)

Aleksi Salmenperä’s Father’s Day is an honest tragicomedy about the measures by which we judge how well we are coping in life. In the film, Veikko (Tommi Korpela) helps his friend Tinke (Tomi Lindfors) manage everyday life in a care unit. Tinke has drunk himself into ill health, and the only thing holding his life together is the humour that springs from its darker side. When Saimi (Laura Birn), a woman from the friends’ band days, has teenage twins (Vilja and Varpu Rintanen) who decide to find out about their father, their search leads them to Tinke. Saimi intends to stop the twins from meeting Tinke, but Veikko, drawn into the middle of the mess, disagrees. Directed by Aleksi Salmenperä. Genre: Drama. B-Plan distribution. The film is rated K7.
