The Opening

He is the oldest actor in the company. He doesn’t read emails. You can always call if something important comes up. And of course he knows that the grand opening of the theatre building is coming someday. But he hasn’t heard anything in a long time. Why does the artistic director want to meet with him? Is he still needed for the theatre opening after all? He was invited out for this evening, and he’s going. Uku Uusberg wrote the original play “Avamine” especially for Linnateater’s opening week in October 2025, with Egon Nuter in mind for the lead role. Nuter celebrated his 70th birthday in the autumn of that same year. Both funny and a little melancholy, the play takes the audience on a surprising journey behind the scenes of the theatre world, where love of theatre is the ultimate winner. Spoken theatre. Cast: Egon Nuter, Uku Uusberg (guest), Raigo Saariste (guest).
