In the play “NO,” two puppets, Theodor and Gustav, set off on a journey around the world. The magic word “NO” opens up one new world after another for them. Along the way, Theodor and Gustav discover how different life is on land, in water and in the air, and meet animals and birds brought to life to the music of Camille Saint-Saëns’ “Carnival of the Animals.” As they travel, Theodor and Gustav discover many new things: that there is more than one mother in the world, that mothers are more than just mothers, and that as life goes on, not only does the world around us change, but it changes us too. Of course, they learn that “NO” can be funny, sad, good, bad and many other things. Theodor, who previously knew only one magic word, “YES,” learns what “NO” means in this story. Gustav, meanwhile, learns how to carry on when your dreams have not yet come true. Read more
