American Doctor

Three American doctors from different backgrounds (Palestinian, Jewish and Zoroastrian) are united by a deep commitment to saving lives. Dr. Thaer Ahmad, Dr. Mark Perlmutter and Dr. Feroze Sidhwa travel to Gaza to work in hospitals under extremely difficult conditions, where limited resources and damaged infrastructure force them to make impossible decisions. The film “American Doctor” takes us into the men’s world, revealing both the devastating impact of war and the demands of their work. Back in the United States, they speak out publicly and confront those in power. Director Poh Si Teng has made a provocative and deeply human film that reveals the horrors of this conflict while preserving the possibility of showing compassion through action. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and has since won awards at various festivals (the Hot Docs Audience Award, the Amnesty International Award at the Thessaloniki Film Festival, etc.).
