The Wizard of Dreamland — Ice Show

On 25 December at 17:00, Daugavpils Ice Hall will host “The Wizard of Dreamland”, a spectacular ice show for the whole family featuring award-winning figure skaters from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. Inspired by Alexander Volkov’s popular work “The Wizard of the Emerald City”, this warm and uplifting story will be seen in a new light. Dorothy and her faithful dog Toto, the charming Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, the Cowardly Lion, mysterious fairies and, of course, the enigmatic Wizard will come to life on the ice. Together with these characters, audiences will set off on a fantastic journey through Dreamland—a place where dreams come true.

“The Wizard of Dreamland” is a musical theatre production on ice, created with the participation of a large Latvian creative team of choreographers, set designers, costume designers, composers, and lighting and special-effects specialists. Every detail—from the scenery to the musical accompaniment—will create a magical atmosphere for children and adults alike.

The show features 24 world-class figure skaters, including participants in World and European Championships and winners and prize-winners of international competitions. They will be joined by acrobats, aerial gymnasts and other performers from Latvia and the other Baltic countries. Audiences can expect technically challenging and emotionally charged performances: spectacular lifts, pirouettes, jumps, impressive death spirals, and graceful, synchronised skating duets. The action will extend beyond the ice, with breathtaking aerial acrobatics above it enhancing the story’s magical atmosphere.

“The Wizard of Dreamland” is a show for audiences of all ages and an opportunity to enjoy something special with your family at Christmas. Music, figure skating and the magic of a fairy tale will come together for a festive event in Daugavpils.
