Our beloved LATVIA was born in the harsh darkness of November; perhaps that’s why, for a Latvian, singing is as essential as eating. That’s why singing is our nation’s psychotherapy, wellness workout and yoga for joy. There are songs that need no sheet music. They live in the universe of our emotions, somewhere between heart and memories, between first love and the last folk dance, between carefree summers spent running around as children and life’s celebrations shaped by tradition.
We’ll celebrate LATVIA’s birthday at BLAUMANIS with lively music and good cheer! With full lungs, open hearts, sparkling joy and songs that are always on a Latvian’s lips. We’ll hold a proper autumn folk dance at BLAUMANIS—a sing-along celebration without fear of hitting a wrong note.
The lively pop-up duo ES IZJĀJU PRŪŠU ZEMI—the legendary celebration maestros Egīls Vētra and Armands Leja—will skillfully keep the musical sparks flying, lead the sing-along and conduct a merry evening. It’s time to dust off the old songbooks, shake forgotten verses from the pockets of memory and sing those perfectly polished choruses together. There’ll be songs to move you, songs to make you smile, songs to set your blood racing and keep you from sitting still. And there will certainly be songs that make you want to hug the person sitting next to you as you sing.
LATVIA must be sung. Because LATVIA is a song we protect and cherish!
Doors open at 19:00.
