How easy is it to use AI to create a convincing phishing page, fake someone’s voice, or make a well-known person say something in a video that they never actually said? This is not a conventional training session, but a show about AI-powered cyber scams, featuring practical demonstrations and real-life examples. We’ll look at how artificial intelligence has changed criminals’ capabilities and opportunities.

Urmo Keskel (Phishbite OÜ) will show which AI-created and AI-enhanced scams have been circulating in Estonia over the past year: phishing pages, fake social media accounts, fake news stories, and deepfake videos. We’ll watch plenty of videos and examples of what scammers have created with AI, as well as cases where their use of AI backfired and exposed the scam. Urmo will also demonstrate just how easy it is to create convincing fake content with today’s AI tools.

We’ll also take a closer look at the world of cyberattacks and see how AI can help identify and exploit software vulnerabilities. Urmo will share his experience using publicly available language models to find vulnerabilities, and we’ll discuss what this means for the future of cyberattacks.

Expect plenty of videos, real scams, successful fakes, and scammers’ blunders. This fast-paced and at times surprising look at how AI is used in the world of cybercrime will also help you better understand and recognise today’s scams. Each participant will leave with practical advice on how to better protect themselves and their employer from cyber scams.

Urmo Keskel is a co-founder of the cyber-hygiene training platform Phishbite. The workshop is part of Arunädal and the Eesti.ai initiative “The Most AI-Savvy People.”
