The Nutcracker — Musical Puppet and Mask Performance

The concert performance for children is included in the “Latvijas skolas soma” cultural education programme. “The Nutcracker” is the first large-scale co-production by Liepāja Puppet Theatre and the Liepāja Symphony Orchestra. This musical puppet and mask performance for preschool and primary-school-aged children is inspired by the fairy tale by Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann and the world-famous music of Pyotr Tchaikovsky. The performance invites audiences on a journey full of fantasy, where the everyday becomes wondrous and imagination is the main guide. Various puppet-theatre techniques, masks, objects, lighting and acting will create a visually layered world of unexpected transformations and discoveries. The concert performance brings together classical music and puppet theatre, offering children an aesthetically rich, emotionally engaging experience that stimulates the imagination.
