“Hear Culture” — Interactive Hearing Loss Simulator

The “Lielais dzintars” Concert Hall will host the interactive installation “Hear Culture”, which invites visitors to explore hearing diversity and the world of sound from a different perspective. Using a specially designed hearing simulator, visitors can listen to excerpts of music both in their full sound and with different simulated types of hearing loss. In some versions, the sounds of certain instruments, or parts of them, will disappear, allowing visitors to experience how perception of the same piece of music changes. Visitors will be asked to try to identify what has changed in the music and which sounds can no longer be heard. The installation was created through a collaboration between the “Audiomedika” Hearing Centre and the “Lielais dzintars” Concert Hall. It offers an interactive way to learn how hearing works, find out more about hearing loss, and understand its impact on sound perception.
