“Hear Culture” — Interactive Hearing Loss Simulator

The “Lielais dzintars” Concert Hall will host the interactive installation “Hear Culture”, inviting visitors to explore the diversity of hearing and the world of sound from a different perspective. Using a specially designed hearing simulator, visitors can listen to excerpts of music both in their full sound and with various simulated types of hearing loss. In some versions, the sounds of certain instruments, or parts of them, will disappear, letting visitors experience how their perception of the same piece of music changes. Their task will be to try to recognise what has changed in the music and which sounds can no longer be heard. The installation was created through a collaboration between the “Audiomedika” Hearing Centre and the “Lielais dzintars” Concert Hall. It offers an interactive way to explore how hearing works and learn more about hearing loss and its impact on sound perception.
