Early music concert at Narva Town Hall
On 25 November at 17:00, we invite you to Narva Town Hall for an early music concert featuring Salome Stroganova, a young and talented cellist from Georgia. The concert will feature works for solo cello by Baroque masters Johann Sebastian Bach and Domenico Gabrielli.
A distinctive feature of the programme is the use of scordatura. Scordatura is an alternative tuning in which the cello’s highest string is tuned to G instead of the usual A. This tuning changes the instrument’s resonance, creates new timbres and lets listeners discover the cello’s rich sound world from a different perspective.
About the performer
Salome Stroganova is a cellist from Tbilisi, Georgia. Her musical journey began with piano lessons at the age of six. She later continued her studies at the Manana Doijashvili Music School and dedicated herself to the cello as a teenager. In 2023, she began studying at the Tbilisi State Conservatoire under Professor Tamara Gabarashvili.
Salome has taken part in several international festivals and masterclasses, including the Musica Mundi Festival, where she studied with Valentin Perlin, Emanuele Silvestri and Zvi Carmeli. In 2024, she joined the Tbilisi Youth Orchestra, with which she performed at the renowned Konzerthaus Berlin in August 2025. During the same visit, she also took part in an improvisational collaboration project with an Indonesian ensemble.
Since August 2025, Salome has been studying at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in Professor Henry-David Varema’s cello class, and furthering her studies in baroque cello under the guidance of Johanna Randvere. In Estonia, she has attended several masterclasses, learning from distinguished musicians including Fabio Presgrave, Erkki Lahesmaa, Kangho Lee, Katie Raitinen, Theodor Bau, Amit Tiefenbrunn, Alessandra Montani, Yannis Rammos and Agnès Sulem.
Salome’s musical interests range from Baroque music to contemporary and film music. Alongside the classical repertoire, she is interested in creative collaborative projects and combining music with other art forms.
