Creative Entrepreneurs’ Gathering

Our second gathering will take place on 20 November at Võrumaa Museum. The choice of venue is especially meaningful this time, as the museum will be celebrating its anniversary week: Võrumaa Museum is turning 60! We’ll be welcomed by gallery owner Jana Huul, who has brought more than 300 art exhibitions to Võru over the years. We’ll hear about what goes on behind the scenes in a gallery owner’s work—and, no doubt, a few wild stories too. Of course, we’ll get to know one another, discuss various questions related to creativity and entrepreneurship, and simply chat over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.

Afterwards, those who wish can visit the exhibition “Võru in Four Views”, which takes visitors back to Võru in the 1920s and 1930s, when the town was one of South Estonia’s important cultural centres. The exhibition focuses on four creators who lived and worked in Võru: photographer Ida Kepnik, magician Julius Skrastin, composer Eduard Tamm and painter Jaan Vahtra. Through their stories, we see a town where ideas and creative work emerged and reached beyond Võru, becoming part of Estonia’s cultural history. You can also visit the historical exhibition “Võru a Century Ago through the Story of the Judeikin Family”, which looks at businesses owned by Jewish entrepreneurs, their development, and the tragic twists and turns of their lives.

Regular gatherings for creative entrepreneurs in Southeast Estonia take place about once a month on Fridays, each time at a different venue. Every gathering begins with our host talking a little about their work and answering all questions honestly; afterwards, everyone can mingle and chat about current topics. The content of each gathering takes shape around the interests of those attending. Places are limited. Drinks and a light snack will be provided. The creative entrepreneurs’ gatherings are supported by Võrumaa Development Centre. The cover photo design uses a photograph by Andres Treial.
