An interactive installation, “Hear Culture,” will be on view at the concert hall “Lielais dzintars,” inviting visitors to explore the diversity of hearing and the world of sound from a different perspective. Using a specially created hearing simulator, visitors can listen to excerpts of music both in their full sound and with different simulated types of hearing loss. In some versions, the sounds of certain instruments, or parts of them, will disappear, allowing visitors to experience how perception of the same piece of music changes. Listeners will be challenged to identify what has changed in the music and which sounds can no longer be heard. The installation was created in collaboration between the “Audiomedika” Hearing Centre and the concert hall “Lielais dzintars.” It offers an interactive way to learn about how hearing works, hearing loss, and its effect on sound perception.
