Film: “Seatapp”

The film unfolds just before Christmas in a small village in southern Estonia, where an inexperienced veterinary official (Taavi Teplenkov) arrives, hoping to resolve a suspicious case of swine fever as quickly as possible. The official’s unconventional interpretation of the decisions—which calls for the immediate destruction of all domestic animals—sets off increasingly absurd events in the village. The film, seasoned with plenty of dark humour, features a veritable who’s who of Estonian actors: Taavi Teplenkov, Egon Nuter, Külliki Saldre, Hendrik Toompere juunior, Andres Mähar, Mari Jürjens, Argo Aadli, Christopher Rajaveer, Aleksandr Bražnik, Andres Puustusmaa, Inga Salurand, Mairo Libba, Carita Vaikjärv, Joonas terik, Haldja Semjonova and Marie Konsa. The film is directed and written by Ove Musting, produced by Jaan Laugamõts, shot by cinematographer Sten-Johan Lill, designed by art director Anneli Arusaar, edited by Moonika Raidam, scored by Mihkel Zilmer and sound-designed by Markus Andreas. The film is produced by Downtown Pictures, with production support from the Estonian Film Institute, the Cultural Endowment of Estonia and the Tartu Film Fund. Not recommended for under-12s.
