This workshop provides a practical overview of how artificial intelligence can support creative thinking, developing ideas, and creating different types of content. We focus on how AI can help you find new ideas and solutions. We also cover the risks and limitations associated with using AI, as well as copyright, ethics, and the principles of responsible use.

The workshop is introductory and is particularly suitable for people who have used AI tools only a little or have just started experimenting with them, but would like to learn more about what they can do, acquire useful techniques, and discover practical ways to use them in their everyday work.

In the workshop:

- Get an overview of AI’s possibilities and limitations in creative work, and explore examples of how AI can support idea generation, creative thinking, and problem-solving.
- Practise writing clear and effective prompts.
- Explore commonly used text and image generators, and practise creative prompting.
- Learn to assess the quality, reliability, and originality of AI-generated content, and to spot possible inaccuracies, bias, and misleading results.
- Cover copyright in creative work, intellectual property risks, and the key requirements of the European Union Artificial Intelligence Act (EU AI Act).
- Discuss how to use AI ethically and transparently in creative work, when human oversight is necessary, and when using AI is not appropriate.

Outcome: You will be able to use AI to kick-start creative tasks and develop ideas, critically assess generated results, and understand which rules to follow.

The workshop lasts 4 academic hours and combines short explanations, practical examples, discussion, and exercises. Participants are asked to bring their own computer for the practical work. For quick and convenient access to different AI environments, participants are advised to have a Gmail account and be able to sign in to Google services during the training.

To get the most out of the workshop, participants are advised to have access to at least one AI tool (with an account already created) and to be willing to try other AI tools.

The workshop will be led by Merje Vaide, a lecturer and project manager at BCS Koolitus, with extensive experience in developing adults’ digital skills.
