Markku (Heikki Kujanpää) and Pirjo (Ella Pyhältö) are looking forward to retirement, with plenty of plans to share. But their everyday life begins to crumble when Pirjo notices worrying changes in Markku’s behaviour: forgetfulness, sudden emotional outbursts and uncontrolled actions. As their marital crisis deepens, Markku is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s—and Pirjo’s life changes irrevocably. She becomes his caregiver.
Based on Minna Lindgren’s novel of the same name, Soteorpo is a humorous yet unflinching portrayal of how memory disorders affect relationships and a person’s place in society.
Dramatisation and direction: Hanna Kirjavainen
