Paavli.Live: HENGE (UK)

A distinctive blend of cosmic prog rock and electronic music – HENGE, 16 November 2027 at Paavli Kultuurivabrik.

Somewhere between psychedelic prog rock, rave and science fiction, HENGE exist: an allegedly extraterrestrial collective whose mission is to save humanity from itself. Their chosen methods are cosmic music and outrageous costumes. On 16 November 2027, they will land at Paavli Kultuurivabrik.

HENGE claim they are not from this planet. They have arrived on Earth from distant galaxies to spread peace and prepare our species for life beyond Earth. Their message is serious, though their methods are somewhat unusual.

Having landed on Earth more than ten years ago, HENGE have since been on a cosmic mission across concert stages in the UK and Europe. Their live performances, which combine psychedelic rock, rave music and the theatricality of science fiction, have earned them the Independent Festival Award for Best Live Act. A mythology of its own has grown around the band, extending from four studio albums to a comic-book series.

Their latest album, “Journey to Voltus B”, continues to expand the HENGE universe and includes an unusual experiment in vinyl format: the record, pressed with two parallel grooves, has two possible endings depending on where the turntable needle lands.

HENGE’s music lies somewhere in the unmapped territory where prog rock and rave meet. It is strange, intense and made with dead-serious commitment. Behind the cosmic chaos lies a fairly simple thought: perhaps humanity could do something better than wage war? We could dance, for example.
