On 13 December, Pegaza Viesistaba will fill with songs that smell of mandarins, a freshly decorated Christmas tree and Christmases from childhood. In her special electro-acoustic programme “Plastic Christmas Tree”, singer KATŌ invites you to a warm, unhurried evening featuring both her original music and heartfelt Christmas songs and beloved melodies in Latvian.
For this concert, KATŌ will take the stage with a special line-up never before seen at her concerts, giving familiar songs a new sound by combining acoustic warmth with contemporary energy. The song “Plastic Christmas Tree” is a story about Christmas, and in this programme it will become part of an evening of festive anticipation.
KATŌ’s music is about feelings that need no explanation—they are simply recognisable. About home, relationships, everyday life, joy and a little sadness too. At Christmas, these feelings become even closer.
KATŌ’s “Plastic Christmas Tree” concert is part of the “Warm Letters” Advent concert series. The series will also feature the participatory art installation “Wall of Warm Letters”. Everyone is invited to write warm words, wishes or encouragement for the ambassadors of the “Angels Over Latvia” campaign—the six children from different cities across Latvia. After the campaign, the letters will be delivered to the children, while during the concerts they will come together to form a special work of art.
“Warm Letters” is about more than enjoying music. It is an opportunity to become part of a beautiful story through your presence, a kind word and a simple yet meaningful gesture.
