Kintsugi brings together Japanese craft and philosophy, expressed through the repair of broken ceramic objects. The idea behind kintsugi is that cracks and other imperfections are part of an object’s use and create its history and value. They should not be hidden, but embraced. Perhaps we can also embrace our own imperfections, experiences and past? The traditional kintsugi process can take weeks or even months. But, as is customary nowadays, faster solutions are available. If you would like to take part, register for the workshop, where we will practise contemporary kintsugi using epoxy glue and gold powder. You can bring a broken dish, but we recommend bringing one you feel comfortable experimenting on. The first kintsugi is for an enemy, the second for a friend and the third for yourself.
