AI is a useful assistant, but many people have a legitimate question: where does my data go, and am I even allowed to use AI at work? In this workshop, you’ll get clear answers. Over three hours, we’ll explain in plain language, with examples, what happens to the text you enter into an AI tool. We’ll discuss what is and isn’t worth sharing with AI, and how to keep your own and your company’s data safe. No prior knowledge is needed.
What we’ll cover
1. Where the data goes
When you enter a question into an AI tool, that text is sent to someone else’s server. We’ll explain where data is processed, who may see it, and whether it is used to further train the AI.
2. Personal and company data
A client’s name, personal identification code, payroll table, contract: all of these are types of data that require care. We’ll discuss what protecting personal data means when using AI. We’ll also talk about the difference between a personal account and a company account.
3. Is AI allowed at work?
Many organisations have not agreed on this. We’ll discuss what to pay attention to and what questions to ask your employer. We’ll also talk about how to agree on simple rules with your team.
4. When AI gets it wrong
An AI response can sound very convincing and still be wrong. We’ll show you how to spot such errors and check responses before using them.
5. Safe practices
AI can help you without you showing it real data. We’ll demonstrate ways to describe a task so that sensitive information stays on your computer.
Practical session
You’ll try everything out on your own computer. We’ll review your tool’s settings and prepare a short checklist you can use at your workplace.
What you’ll take away:
– An understanding of where your data goes when you use AI
– Simple rules about what to share with AI and what not to share
– A checklist for safe use at your workplace
Who it’s for: Everyone who uses AI at work or is considering it, as well as managers who need to decide how their team uses AI.
Bring: A laptop and charger.
