Trio Tarantella is an ensemble of professional musicians comprising piano, violin and cello. They are dedicated to introducing classical and academic music in Estonia. With great passion, they bring their music to schools, cultural centres and stages across the country. They perform classical repertoire with mastery, inspire new generations and foster a love of music at every concert.

Coloratura soprano Pirjo Jonas earned a master’s degree in opera singing from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in 2009. She also holds a higher education degree in English language and literature from the University of Tartu. Her repertoire ranges from early music to works by contemporary composers. She has performed in Estonia and abroad and has appeared as a soloist in performances of many major works.

Pirjo Jonas has performed on the stages of both RO Estonia and Vanemuine Theatre. Since the 2010/2011 season, she has been a resident soloist at Vanemuine Theatre, where she has created numerous roles in operas, operettas and musicals. Among her major roles in recent seasons are the title role in Gaetano Donizetti’s opera “Linda di Chamounix”, Donna Anna in W. A. Mozart’s “Don Giovanni”, Roxane in Eino Tamberg’s “Cyrano de Bergerac”, Cleopatra in Georg Friedrich Händel’s “Julius Caesar” and Tiina in Margo Kõlar’s opera “Libahunt”.

Pirjo Jonas has twice been nominated for the Estonian Theatre Music Award: in 2018 for Pepi Pleiniger in Johann Strauss’s operetta “Vienna Blood” and Johanna in Stephen Sondheim’s musical “Sweeney Todd”; and in 2021 for the title role in Gaetano Donizetti’s opera “Linda di Chamounix”.
