Could it be that all our past lives glow within us at once, existing side by side throughout time? Celine Song’s partly autobiographical debut as a screenwriter and director—she first made a name for herself as a playwright—“Past Lives” is a moving love story told in three acts. It follows two childhood friends who fell for each other but were separated in their early teens. At its heart is the Korean concept of in-yun: the belief that fate always brings together people who have met countless times in previous lives, even if only in passing.
“Past Lives” premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and later received two Oscar nominations: for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay. It is a wonderful film about a bond formed between people at a tender age and lasting until the end of life.

We also invite everyone to visit the solo exhibition “Island in the Sea” by acclaimed artist Jane Jin Kaisen, currently on view at Kai Art Center. This captivating journey, comprising seven films, delves into the depths of Korean traditions and history. Kaisen’s work is being shown in the Baltics for the first time.
A combo ticket for visiting both the exhibition and the film screening on the same day costs €15 (concession ticket €10). The gallery is open until 18:00, so combo-ticket holders are asked to visit the exhibition before the screening begins.
