Salon Poulencette “Grêle bêle Ravel” new album release concert. The album title is inspired by Ravel’s work “Noël des jouets” (“Christmas of the Toys”), whose text features the thin bleating of toy animals (grêle bêle). From this comes a playful interweaving of words and sounds. The album carries the decadent atmosphere of the turn of the century (fin de siècle), where beauty is accompanied by melancholy, light by shadow, and sacred peace by human restlessness. The time of All Souls’ Day and Christmas offers a reason to pause and reflect on what is on one’s mind and in one’s heart. The questions that concerned creators more than a century ago speak to us in today’s troubled world as well. Perhaps now is the right time to step away from the trivialities of everyday life and the commercial glitter of Christmas. “Grêle bêle Ravel” is a search for beauty and sacred peace—not necessarily bright or carefree, but one where black exists alongside white, with muted tones and quiet longing. Vocals – Kaisa Jõhvik; piano – Mari Visnapuumägi
