RETROSPEKTIIV: “Sortsid” (2007) and TÜT’s Adventures in Colombia

Tartu Üliõpilasteater opens the doors to its archive! 🎞️ We’re starting the RETROSPEKTIIV event series, bringing the most significant productions in TÜT’s history back before an audience. The recordings were digitised with support from Eesti Kultuurkapital and will now be shown on the big screen for the first time. The series opens with “Sortsid”, the production that took TÜT to festivals around the world. Directed by Kalev Kudu and dramatised by Vaino Vahing and Kalev Kudu from Fyodor Dostoevsky’s novel, “Sortsid” was created in 2007. In February that year, TÜT represented Estonia for the first time at the international student theatre festival in Liège, Belgium, performing on the stage of one of Europe’s oldest and most distinguished festivals. In the autumn, the company travelled to Minsk, where it won two awards among 16 productions from seven countries: one for a contemporary interpretation of a Russian classic, and the other, a special award from the jury of lecturers at the Belarusian Theatre Institute, for professional production and a cohesive ensemble. “Sortsid” was also performed in Morocco. The music was composed by Kiwa. We’ll also show TÜT’s adventures in Colombia, which the theatre reached on its travels. 🌎 Come and see what TÜT’s story is made of.
