Michelle, a thoroughly respectable grandmother, enjoys a peaceful retirement in a small village in Burgundy, not far from her best friend, Marie-Claude. On All Saints’ Day, her daughter Valérie visits and leaves her son Lucas in Michelle’s care for the school holidays. But nothing goes as planned. Ozon’s film is about old age, guilt, and how far people are willing to go for those they love. At the San Sebastián Film Festival, the film won the award for Best Screenplay, and Pierre Lottin won Best Supporting Actor.
In Focus is Kai Cinema’s monthly programme. In November, we turn the spotlight on acclaimed French director François Ozon.

You are also welcome to visit the solo exhibition “Island in the Sea” by acclaimed artist Jane Jin Kaisen, now on view at Kai Art Center. This captivating journey through seven films delves into Korean traditions and history. Kaisen’s work is being shown in the Baltics for the first time.
A combination ticket for the exhibition and film screening on the same day costs €15 (€10 concession). The gallery is open until 18:00, so combination-ticket holders are asked to visit the exhibition before the screening begins.
