12:00–13:00 — Von Glehni Teater, “Mice in the Attic”
Author: Andrus Kivirähk
Director: Kairi Vilu
Costumes: Aili Vilu
Lighting/sound: Margus Ruhno
Video: Miguel Kaju
Child’s voice in the performance: Kirsi-Ly Lõhmus
Cast: Jaan Kelle, Anu Kokk, Aivar Luht, Kairi Vilu
The play “Mice in the Attic” was written by Andrus Kivirähk. It is a story about friendship, envy, dreams, fears and forgiveness. We all have our dreams and wishes, but sometimes the simplest things can bring joy—a full stomach, a warm hat, a trip to the sauna. Grey Mouse, Bat and Grub go about their everyday lives in the attic until one day Nunnu, a white mouse, joins them. Nunnu’s life has been different from that of the other characters, and the attic’s usual routine changes. Playing together and a wonderful fairy tale can soften even the grumpiest heart and let us see life through coloured glass. The attic is a fairy-tale place! Squeak!
14:00–14:30 — Kiili Harrastusteater, “Harmonious Confusion”
Author: Salome Laev
Director: Merike Koort
Cast: Kalev Vaidla, Merike Koort, Salome Laev
Mark is a cellist immersed in his own musical world. Since his partner Anna does not really understand his intense love of music, Mark finds a kindred spirit in Laura. Is Laura the One, or is she playing a subtle game?
15:00–16:35 — Loodeteater, “S-curve, or Dancing in the Back Room” and “A Woman Came to a Man”
Director: Kristjan Rohioja
Author: Urmas Meri
Set designer: Inga Tammik
Lighting designer: Margus Ruhno
Lighting and sound technician: Miklen Jan Steinberg
Cast of “S-curve”: Urmas Meri, Pille Pikkor, Margus Abel, Marii Olivia Steinberg, Aarne Solvak, Katrin Viitamees, Inna Sults, Jekaterina De Vincentis, Jelena Vilbaum, Inga Tammik
Cast of “A Woman Came to a Man”: Aarne Solvak, Airi Kontson or Merlin Salu
Are you sure you want to know what happens when boundaries disappear? Loodeteater invites you to Hüüru Mõis to see two completely new performances: “S-curve, or Dancing in the Back Room” and “A Woman Came to a Man”. Human beings are unpredictable. We are drawn to what is forbidden, hidden or “just for a quick peek”. But what happens when that peek goes one step too far? When the door is left open. When someone walks in. When it is no longer possible to pretend nothing happened. Come closer. Nothing will happen to you… Or will it?
17:05–19:25 — LendTeater, “Hellish Fortune”
The play is directly inspired by the works of Tammsaare.
Directors: Airé Pajur & Margus Möll
Set designer: Margus Möll
Characters: Jürka — Gunnar Ülper; Juula — Maarja Pavlihhina; Ants — Mikk Sügis
A tragicomedy in two acts. It is no accident that Anton Hansen Tammsaare is a classic—his works are timeless. “The New Satan of Põrgupõhja”, written in 1939, also feels remarkably contemporary, and Peep Pedmanson has skilfully woven modern nuances into his play, immediately bringing parallels with life today to mind. Human nature does not change: the lust for power and gain has always existed and always will. These absurdities seem funny, although it is more a case of laughing through tears. Running time, including intermission: 2 hours and 20 minutes.
19:55–20:55 — PadiseRahva Teater, “The Colonel’s Widow”
Author: Juhan Smuul
Director and dramatizer: Erika Kaljusaar
Cast: Kristel Anja-Palm, Margo Laine / Avo Träss or Jaanus Vooremäe
Social media is full of healers, doctors and counsellors. Looking after our health has become a national sport. Conspiracy theorists have taken hold, claiming doctors know nothing—as the colonel’s widow might say. Juhan Smuul wrote the monologue comedy “The Colonel’s Widow” 61 years ago, knowing nothing about social media. Yet nothing has changed!
The colonel’s widow: “The only bad thing in this world is people and doctors—they have never understood me.”
The Padise Rahvamaja Theatre Café/bar will be open on Theatre Day.
