Hymn

This is a hymn for young people searching within themselves, not knowing whether they will find what they are looking for. Who is “young” today, and who has been “young”—what is there still for us to live, and what will remain unlived? The production wants to capture the feeling of being young. It wants to BE young. What would we dream of living, and what have we given up on entirely? Every generation that eventually takes on the role of those in power has its own face. But what choices and opportunities have been left for “those who come next”? In our youth, a flame burns brightly: it may burst open the world in a radical upheaval, or die down like a spark that never catches. Listen! When stars are lit, surely someone needs it; when stars are lit, surely someone needs it—which means it is very necessary that at least one star should shine above our rooftops every evening?! —Mayakovsky
