Observatory Tour (in Russian) — 7 November, 18:40

1. See what the observatory looks like inside. It was converted from a water tower over the course of more than three years, and you’ll hear its unusual story.
2. We’ll show you our telescopes and explain how the observatory’s equipment works.
3. You’ll get to touch a messenger from space with your own hands: the Sikhote-Alin meteorite. It travelled billions of kilometres before reaching Earth and ending up in our observatory.

If the sky is clear: We’ll observe our Universe through a telescope. Depending on the season and time of day, we may see planets in the Solar System, the Moon, galaxies, star clusters, nebulae, and even our Sun through a special solar telescope.

If it’s cloudy on the day of the tour: Yes, that does happen in our country. But we’ll still have plenty of interesting things to show you! The tour will go ahead as planned. However, instead of observing the sky, we’ll turn our attention to the microscopic world. A powerful laboratory microscope will reveal things invisible to the naked eye.
