“The Queen of the Night” is a gripping story about the meeting of two very different people. After a tragic chain of events, Elli, who had a successful career as a singer at a famous opera house in her youth, must cope with life in Estonia, witnessing her inevitable decline day after day. The intriguing events begin when Jakob, a young and handsome social worker, appears on Elli’s doorstep. A man known as the Honey Man has a mysterious role to play. Who is he? What is he up to, and what role does he have in Elli’s life? The answers may be surprising.

Through the lives of two people with very different fates, Piret Jaaks’s play speaks with both humour and tragedy about the clash and separation of feelings, thoughts and understandings, and the fear that one’s “best before” date has passed. It also asks what remains of us once we are gone.
